Hi Mr. Green!
I picked up my copy of Looking for Alaska at my local bookstore a while ago and hadn’t had the chance to read it yet. Well today I picked up my book and found this /\ in the middle. Although your fandom has already spread far and wide, I thought you would appreciate that it has even found us here in Deerfield, IL. My friend Anine and I are huge fans of you and your work and we just wanted to share with you something that made each of our days a little brighter.
DFTBA,
Ilana
ps attention Nerdfighteria! If someone, anyone, could find a way to get this to John, Anine and I would really appreciate it! In the spirit of nerfighting, we believe that every little thing we do as a community, as individuals, as a species makes a difference, and this definitely made a difference to me today :)

IF THE SHOE FITS… WEAR IT TO THE CITY CIRCLE!
It’s that time of year again, citizens! As all of Panem gears up for the Opening Ceremonies, we’ve been doing some serious shoe-stalking around town. It seems like everyone who’s anyone is traipsing about the City Circle in the latest and the greatest kicks. Check out some of the highlights from our trés fashionable reconnaissance mission…
I think it’s pretty clear what the people want. Protecting copyrights and fighting piracy are one thing, but these acts take it way too far. If these pass, you are completely forgetting about that whole “by the people, for the people” thing in the Constitution.
Speaking of the Constitution,…

Alot of people dont believe in the whole “new world order” thing. But if you open your eyes and LOOK its all happening right in front of your faces. No one knows whats gonna happen in 2012 but I can assure you if we continue to be ignorant as to whats going on, its gonna be BAD. So EVERYONE needs to educate themselves. Do your research and prepare yourself.

STOP SOPA
Another hipster-franco crossover for your tasting pleasure:
asian orzo with mushroom, carrot, and turnip
serves three
- boil some specialty pasta (we used asian orzo) until al dente
- while the pasta is boiling, chop finely 4 cups baby portobello mushrooms
- saute the mushrooms in vegetable stock & rice vinegar until tender, then stir into the fully cooked and drained pasta
- reserve the liquid from the mushrooms, you’ll be using it for the rest of the vegetables!
- wash and chop 1 large carrot into small bits
- wash 1 large turnip. slice into medallions, as shown above. take two of those thick slices, and cut them into 1/3 inch strips (like a wide french fry)
- pour into a wok: the reserved veggie stock, light cooking wine, and soy sauce
- keeping the wok covered and on low-medium heat, steam/soak the carrots and turnips for five or six minutes, or until the turnips are plump and tender
while the veggies are steaming, take 1 tbsp of non-dairy butter and melt it into the mushroom & orzo mixture. this dish needs no sauce, because the flavors of the vegetables are so tasty.
serve hot with a sweet drink, and enjoy!
It’s all coming together folks. :D Meanwhile, check out the recently updated We Admire… and The Find pages for some innocent procrastination fun.
